More banned supplements!

A lab that tests for banned substance in Australia found that 1 in 5 supplements contain banned substances on the WADA list. The supplements tested were all available for purchase in Australia ranging from protein powders, pre-workouts and even multivitamins!

This shows how easy it would be to consume a supplement that was contaminated with a harmful substance and if you are a drug tested athlete, destroy your career with a positive test. For the health authorities and anti-doping associations, it is always a game of cat and mouse. Brands continue to find ways of adding questionable or illegal substances in their products and it takes a long time for them to be found out, usually after an athlete has turned a positive test and not from direct supplement testing.

Recently, I have seen some supplement stores advertising products saying “Get it before its banned” refereeing to a date this year when the latest in a long line of ingredients is to be made illegal to sell. I strongly suggest NOT buying these products as they can be harmful to your health and cause you to test positive if you are an athlete.

Be careful when purchasing supplements of any kind. Make sure they are 3rdparty tested and are from a reputable company made in Australia.

One of the main reasons I started making supplements was to ensure I knew exactly what went into each supplement and no banned substances would ever be used. This has been great for my own peace of mind as a coach and for my tested athletes.
